SETH DIAMOND STIRRING UP CONTROVERSY WITH NEW SINGLE, ‘DEAR PREACHER’

The young, dynamic gospel artist Seth Diamond releases a new single which proves rather controversial for his brand.
The unconventional artist is speaking directly to church leaders and pastors in Ghana, this time, with his single track “Dear Preacher.”
Seth Diamond, no stranger to controversy, started his first verse saying, “Every Sunday you dress up to the temple, preaching from the Bible but you don’t do what it says.”
“If you really Love your neighbor why are you draining from their labour,” a line that seemed to be directed at church leaders' habit of abusing the tithe and offering meant for the Lord (God).
For the first time in recent times, a musician seem to be addressing the leadership of the church through music at the same time attacking the character of so called ‘men of God’ abusing their leadership.
Earlier this year, Seth Diamond in an interview with GhanaReel.com argued that Gospel Music was not a genre of music. He stirred a debate yet was able to defend his point with sound argument.
Martin Luther who led the protestant revolution against the Catholic Church might be smiling at Seth Diamond from Heaven (if only he made it there).
Many a time Christians in Ghana disapprove of some conducts (or misconduct, for lack of a better word) of some perceived men of God. However, very few are bold enough to speak up for what is right. This makes Seth Diamonds new single a socially impactful song that reawaken the collective conscience of the church and the Christian community as a whole.
Ironically, in the advent of the collapse of some banks in Ghana, the founder of the International Christian Gospel Church (ICGC) Dr. Mensah Otabil was implicated in a scandalous misappropriation of state bailout funds. Dr. Otabil was a prominent teacher of leadership and an authority on the subject.
It would not be a funny joke if by some clandestine means this new single seeks to include this scandal into the general pretext for which this song was written.
Besides the radical nature of the lyrics, the song is upbeat. It incorporated an urban pop instrumental on a quick pace melody yet never sacrificed the gospel style of music.
The year has been exceptionally good for the Christian artist, Seth Diamond. He had been nominated for several international awards for gospel artists and he had performed in several international concert.
